City of god is an Brazilian crime film which was directed by Fernando Meirelles and Katia Lund released in the home country. The film is based on a novel written by Paulo Lins.The novel is based on real stories took place in Ria De janeiroat the beginning of 1980,s.The film is based on the underworld drug dealings and murders. The tagline of the Film “If you run, the beast catches you; if you stay, the beast eats you.” depict the story.
The film starts with the main plot which is the centre scene of the Film. That scene itself shows the Scary things happening in there. The story goes through 2 children who are brought up from the same colony where robbery is not at all a crime. One can’t stop the illegal and narcotics in that area. If anyone who step back from this will be killed. As the story goes on the 2 boys grows in their own way.one choose the illegal way and one chooses Photography.
Lil ‘Z’, Rocket, Knockout Ned, Carrot They are the main roles in this film .Lil z went through the business.While he was a child he want to be a robber.He started killing people.He became a underworld king by murdering his enimies.One day the people of carrot and lil z get into a fight and thus the problems evolve.lil z kills carrots people and vise versa.
On that gap the hero of the story Rocket,the photographer get into a newspaper and he clicks for lil z and it changes rockets life. At last lil z
Cought by the police and they makes a deal.but from there it evolves some other powers as lil z comes,the next generations.
The story directly shows hows the life in that area and how they become such ina great way.The camera movements and the direction are appreciable.
Director wins to show the thrilling scenes by the direction.As shows in the movie,the first half is said ina village and the other half in town area which the village grows.
Anyway the film gives us an ideas about the cycle which comes not by choosing by situation.
